NAPUD Regional Photo Contest 2024: EXTENDED DEADLINE until 26 November 2024

The Network of Asian People who Use Drugs (NAPUD) is pleased to launch the 'regional photo contest 2024'. The contest is open to individuals with living or lived experience of drug use, as well as, community-led organizations and networks of people who use drugs in the South and Southeast Asia regions.
NAPUD invites and encourages all eligible individuals and organizations (applicants) with striking photos that depict or align with the theme (mentioned below) to submit their work. Each applicant may submit up to three (3) images complying with the submission rules and requirements outlined below.
Photos (submitted) will be judged by an independent review or selection panel on the relevance to the themes, as well as composition, originality, and technical qualities. The thirty (30) winning photos, which will be announced at the end of November 2024, will receive a cash prize of USD 100 (each). All winning photos will be published and featured on the official website of NAPUD.
Submission Rules and Requirements
Technical Requirements:
- Content: Photos that “tell the story” of "communities of people who use drugs," and capture the breadth of issues, impacts, and solutions across the contest themes.
- File Type: Photos must be JPG/JPEG files.
- Original: Photos must be original submissions (by the photographer or with permission) and not previously submitted to any photo contest.
- Current: Photos that are taken within the last three (3) years and tell the current stories of communities.
- Release Form: A release form must be filled out and submitted along with each photo submission. You can find the release form here (link).
Note: Each photo submitter MUST ensure written consent from persons in the submitted photo (especially, if they are service recipients).
Themes
NAPUD invites all eligible applicants to submit photos that tell the stories of communities of people who use drugs across one or more of the themes below.
- Advocacy or activism (demonstrations/protests) led by and for people who use drugs
- Community-led service delivery
- Meaningful engagement of people who use drugs with various stakeholders at different levels.
- Addressing Human rights and gender diversity
- Celebrations (Community gathering to celebrate different festivals depending on each country and culture – capturing happy moments)
Exclusions
Photos will be excluded (or disqualified) from the contest if they:
- are not in digital format and are submitted electronically
- have been significantly retouched or altered with software and editing tools
- contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content
- infringe on copyrights or misrepresent the work of others
- include watermarks, time or date stamps, or logos
- have not met all submission requirements
- are compressed files
- do not include photographer credit, caption, location, and accurate and complete consent form
How to Submit Photos
To enter the contest, please read all the above requirements carefully and submit the following three (3) documents to napudasia@gmail.com:
- The PHOTO (as per the submission rules and requirements)
- Photo caption (Download the caption form)
- Release form (Download the release form)

The deadline for the submission of photos is 26 November 2024.
